Hi friends! I hope your having a great week? I'm still working on my scrapbook room...I was piling up the stuff I wanted to keep and lost my cell phone under the pile lol!! My friend came over and I had her call me so i could find it :-) Pretty pathic doncha think :-)

Here's a card I made a few weeks ago. After I finished it I wasn't happy with it....but along with the good I will show you the bad lol!!! I do like the concept of the circles and the flowers in each cornor...I just can't pinpoint my problem with it...I just don't care for the finished results.

Happy Friday!!!!! Hugs, Char

Hi Girls!! Just popping in with a card and an update on scrapbook room lol! I had to make this card from the livingroom because i can't seem to find the floor!!

How about some OA Sidewalks! I've had this paper for a month and it's the 1st chance besides the card I made last week, that I've got to use it. I love the bright sunny colors of this line so much! A very simple card, that I made for a friend that needs some cheering up :-)

Here's a start on the junk  treasures that will make it's way to a school :-) I can't get past all the money sitting there!!!This is definately not one of my favorite things to do...but, when it's all done hooray!!!!!!!

O.K. onward and upward right? Hugs, Char

March 27, 2012

Hello! I'm so happy to be here today, posting my 1st tutorial for Crate paper! I was so excited to put my hands on the new collections. The papers are really incredible,  and it's so easy to work with them!! I thought a frame would be a great tutorial. They are really inexpensive and make a wonderful addition for all your loved one's photo's, and my friends and family love them because they are handmade and personalized.  I don't know if you're like me, but I have frames all over my house, I am definitely a frame collector!

Let's get started !

Here's the supplies you need ( Oh, and a nail file) I didn't photograph. The frame is from Michael's, the cost? $1.49. You can pick up Gesso at any Craft store. More on Gesso at the end of my tutorial.

Pour out some Gesso, about the size of three quarters .

Then add your choice of color paint. I used Americana Warm White, which I bought at Michael's. You can just as easily add any color . The proportion I use is 2 parts Gesso and one part paint

 .
using a little spatula or something similar, Mix the two together, making sure to mix completely.

Start painting the frame. Back from my old days of Tole Painting, I learned that you always paint towards the edges first. That way you have a clean edge and it doesn't leave ridges in your paint or puddle up. I painted two even coats. The reason you use Gesso it because it's a sealant, and the nice thing about that is you can do 2 steps in 1!.

After the frame is painted , trace along your chosen paper inside the frame and outside the frame with a pencil and use a light touch so you can erase the lines. Cut out the paper and adhere to frame with a good wet glue.

I don't put alot on, just enough to get a nice coverage, making sure you get the edges good. Make sure you really press down so you don't get any bubbles.

Then I take a file and sand the edges. I like a nice clean edge. Remember to sand towards the edge of the paper.

Next figure out how you want to decorate the frame. I chose Pretty Party border stickers, card stock  stickers,  and the paper is "Invitation" for the top and "Planner", and "Confetti" for the bottom

Go ahead and add your paper to the button, and don't forget to sand the edges again

Next,  I choose to "Fussy Cut" some roses out of this gorgeous paper called Invitation. I really love the colors of this line!

I decided the frame  needed a banner, as they are a great addition to any project. See the little windows in the banner? I cut them with a Spellbinders Postage die. Then I added some paper behind the windows.

more Fussy cutting, and a doily behind the flower.

And there you have it! Easy and super simple!!

Crate = Chartruese !

This month's "Creative Weekly" is centered on Chartreuse. This week the   CP Girls have shared projects devoted almost exclusively to the crisp, Spring-friendly hue. They'll also tell you their perspective on the subject and how they've gone about using it. So hop on over to Crate Paper's Blog and look at all the gorgeous creations that the DT have made this week!

Exactly what color is Chartreuse? It is the color halfway between yellow and green on the color wheel. I suppose yellow-green would work also, but I love the french version. It sounds so pretty! I did some research and found out that there is a yellow Chartreuse and a green Chartreuse. I tend to navigate to the color green because it is such a healing color and it makes me happy! In my home I tend to decorate with neutrals and color with accents, that way it's easier, and less expensive to give my house an uplift! Chartreuse is a very easy color to use because it looks great paired with many colors, and it's a promise of spring coming! !For these two cards I decided to add shades of pink, from a light pink to a darker pink to make the colors pop. I used alot of Pretty Party, which has pretty shades of Chartreuse!

Here are the cards I made showcasing Chartreuse. They are both made with Pretty Party Paper :-)

Happy Friday!! and thanks for stopping by, and have a wonderful day!! Char
