Happy Halloween!

I don't have any Halloween pics to share today ( I know, I know....for shame!)  I have already been in the Christmas mood...I hate rushing the Holiday's and it seems like that's what I'm doing :-) Snowmen are my absolute favorite so I'm sure I will tire you guys out with them lol !

I went to the girl's Halloween harvest festival at Jasmine's school. Kim had these cute little princess costumes made for them! It was raining so she put white shirts under...but they were so stinking cute! The detail on these were incredible...my pictures don't do them justice.

.

And this little card is made with MME "All about Girl's paper pad, the new Nestabilities eyelet circle and the stamp is Papertrey.

Hi Friends!

Well I survived my trip to the dentist. I know for some it's no big deal....but for me it's HUGE! We all have fears in life and that's mine. I broke my tooth and had to get it sanded and a cap put on. So today I say...no more dentist fears...I need to quit being a big baby! :-)

My friend that I work with made these wonderful cupcakes for another woman I work with who happened to turn 50 last week. I wanted to share them...didn't they turn out wonderful? And so much fun! It makes me want to try and make them. It sounds pretty easy..here's some instructions that I found, and if you decide to try them I want to see :-)I

Friday, April 16, 2010Butterfly Cupcakes

These might be a bit time consuming but the butterflies can be made up to 2 days in advance . Just store them in an air tight container till you are ready to assemble the cupcakes.

What You Need:

Cupcakes baked in paper liners

Dark cocoa melting wafers

Colored candy melting wafers (I used yellow and pink)

White nonpareils

Vanilla Frosting

Food coloring (for the frosting)

You'll Also Need:

Ziploc bags

Squeeze bottle

Toothpicks (I liked the double sided kind)

Stiff cardboard-type paper

Wax paper

And look at all the pretty colors! These would be so cute for the grandkids B'day's

1. On a piece of paper draw the butterfly templates for the wings and antennas. Cut small squares of wax paper.

2. Place 1 cup of the dark cocoa wafers in a glass bowl and melt according to package directions in the microwave. Stir well to make sure it is all well melted. Pour into a squeeze bottle.

3. Add 1 cup of colored wafers into a Ziploc bag (do not seal bag), then microwave for 10-15 sec increments. Massage the bag as you go along till all the wafers are melted. Snip 1/16 inch corner from the bag for piping.

4. Working one wing at a time, outline the templates on the wax paper with the dark cocoa. Work quickly because the wafers will start to set. I also had a mug filled half way with very hot water nearby. I put the squeeze bottle in the mug to keep the cocoa melted in between each wing set.

5. Using the colored melted wafer, fill the inside. Use a toothpick to gently spread the colored cocoa to fill the wing.

6. While the candy is still soft, use a toothpick to pull the outside dark cocoa into the colored middle part, to create a pattern.

7. Add a few sprinkles before the wings set. Then set aside to dry.

8. Use the dark cocoa to make the antennas, set aside to dry.

9. Once the wings are completely dry, gently peal them from the wax paper. Fold a piece of stiff construction paper, then open and place inside a bowl to held hold it's shape. Fold the wax paper in half also and place on top of the stiff paper, then add the wings so they are touching each other. Pipe dark cocoa in between the two wings to make the body. Keep the butterfly in the two papers till completely dry.

10. Tint the icing with food coloring and pipe on top of the cupcakes. Add the butterflies and then the antennas. Voila!

Kazan's Sketch # 64

This card is for 2 Sketch's 4 you , sketch challenge. Laura and Kazan always have such inspiring sketches! Come along and play this week, it's fun!

I painted the frame with green acrylic paint and then dry brushed over that with Antique White. I used Platinum stickles around the frame and a bit on the pumpkin for bling :-)

Supplies used are : Crate Paper (Restoration), Melody Ross (Chipboard Frame), Unity Stamp ( Happy Halloween), Pumpkins (Papertrey) Martha Stewart (Punch)

And this card is for Magistical Memories DT

On this card I used Magistical Memories Fancy Frame and their  adorable Potty People. I 1st painted the potty people with Ivory acrylic paint and then took my sanding block and sanded it lightly to take off some of the paint to make them look antique. The frame is covered with paper and sanded around the edges for a finished look

He's makin' a list.....

Good Morning!

I hope that you had a wonderful weekend? It actually got cold yesterday and I turned on the heater on  for the 1st time this year. I love this time of year and can't say it enough!

Thursday is Think Pink (to celebrate Brest Cancer Awareness month) and we have a bridge here called the "Sun Dial bridge".  It is a real sun dial, and the bottom of the bridge is glass. When it was 1st built people flew in from all over the country to see it. It will be lit up all in pink lights so that will be fun to see. I'll try and get pictures!

Here's a fun fact: Think Pink started here where I work in our Marketing house with our Marketing Director, a Cancer doctor and another member in the community. Every year we stuff and pass out 40,000 bags filled with goodies  and breast cancer awareness in the community. Thursday we will stand in front of our building where cars pull up and get their bags...

I can finally share this card! It's in Scrapbook Trends 2010 Christmas Cards Idea Book (Thank You Northridge Publishing!)

I made this Santa with my Cricut, October Afternoon paper, Cosmo (Jolly by Golly) paper, and the snow is hand cut with glitter on top.

Have a wonderful week!  Char

A little Halloween wall hanging

Hi Friends!!
I hope your week is going great ! Mine is ! I've been busy in my scrapbook room making lots of projects :-) . My daughter called me today at work and said...Mom, did you know you use your right side of your brain more then your left? mind you...she's taking Biology ! So, she said the right side is your creative side, and your left is thought of as the logical, thinking side...so ummm? what's she getting at lol????

Anyway, this wall hanging started out as a card. But evolved into this. Do you ever do that? Start with something in mind and completly do something different?

I made this project for Magistical Memories DT. I really love there chipboard! For this I used their adorable Fence that I pained White, and then drybrushed with Brown for a weather look. The vine is also MM . I painted the vine green and added Distressed Stickles in Peeled Paint and then added platinum over the top. The pumpkins are cut with my Cricut "October 31 Cartridge", and then embossed and dry brushed with white and then Orange stickles over the top. The web is also my Cricut and platinum over the top. It really adds alot of glitter. The paper is LYB "Frightful", the felt bird, and the beware label, bat  are Making memories. The Treat or Treat at the top is MME and the glitter netting I picked up at my fav store Paradise Scrapbook store. I bought it in every color they had :-)...And the punch at the bottom is Martha Stewart...I think that's everything I used :-)

Have a great week ! Hugs, Char
