Good Morning! I hope your doing great! I've been busy with the grandkids and enjoying! They are getting so big! The littlest one who is almost 11 months has had about a three month bought of getting sick. She started daycare and seems to be catching everything that's going thru there. Poor baby :-(...but she's finally feeling better and I hope she's on the upward swing!
The background is from Walter and Winnie, and its a cut file.  I water colored it with three different shades of green. The flowers at the bottom are from Wilna and the sentiment is Heidi Swapp. The gold embossed rose is a stamp set from Winnie and Walter also!
Have a wonderful day! Hugs, Char

Missing You

Hi Friends!
I started off , of coarse with a water colored background in Purple and blue. When I first put on the color it looked so dark, but when dry it softened up. That's what I LOVE about watercolors, you never know what it will turn out like! The sentiment is from Altenew and I invested in some pretty sequins. I say invest because as far as sequins go they a little pricey but so pretty! I got 4 different colors. If someone knows how to stop the static on sequins, can you please share? It drives me crazy lol

I'm playing along with Simon Says Challenge this week (anything goes)

Mixed Media Card Challenge ~ Wings

Hi Friends! Its time for a new challenge at The Mixed Media Card Challenge!! This month the theme is wings! Show your mixed media cards that feature things with wings: butterflies, birds, dragonflies, fairies, planes, angels, etc. "Foil" is an optional element.

For my card I used paste in a new stencil from Tim Holtz called Treads. I used it this one time, its my all time favorite stencil and can you believe its disappeared! I have searched everywhere twice! I will have to buy another one if i cant find. Imagine loosing something in a scraproom lol!!
After the  paste was dry I water colored the background and splatted with black ink.
I hope you can play along this month!! Hugs, Char

Papertrey Ink Blog Hop!

Good Morning! It's time again for PTI'S blog hop! I fell in love with this color combination and wound up making two cards. I'm not a big fan of using  black on my cards but love using navy as an alternate color. Look at all those shades of pink, yummy!

For my cards today I used The sweet Life stamp set, the Background Basis (Retro) stamp set . I placed vellum over the top to soften the stripes.

Have a wonderful day!! Char

Happy Birthday

Hi and happy Friday!! Well I ordered some Maggie Holmes Confetti paper back in February and finally got it! I guess because of the dock strikes it was delayed. But I love this line so much! Well, I love all of Maggie Holmes lines lol! I haven't made a non-stamped card in awhile and I had fun with this one. It went together pretty fast!

I'm entering this card in Virginia's layered challenge.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend! The girls soccer has started back up so I'll be there tomorrow! Hopefully some crafting time in on Sunday along with the dreaded chores !
Hugs, Char

March 2015 Blog Hop Challenge

Hi! Today's the monthly Papertrey Blog Hop! Below is the inspiration picture. I have to say that yellow has never been my favorite color, but it's growing on me :-)

Blog inspiration

I drew my inspiration from the wallpaper and the bowl of  lemons on the table!. I hand-stamped the background with Betsy's  watercolor stamps from a Make it market kit. I also used   The Bowl of sunshine stamp set. I added a touch of  Wink of Stella on the lemons and bowl, and finished off embossing the sentiment with some green embossing powder.

Thanks for hopping by! Hugs, Char

Hi Friends! I hope your having a great week! Just sharing a quick card I made with the Maggie Holmes Rose die. Put your shades on :-)
Its a fun die and it comes in two different sizes! I chose the big rose for my card,  and instead of using patterned paper, I water-colored it with Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolors and I also have a cheap set from Michael's and there is a huge difference in the pigment. These are so strong and bright, but if I'm wanting the softer look I reach for the cheap ones, because I don't have to add water and mess with the colors to soften them like I do with these.
Here's another picture of what you can make with the Rose die

Thinking of you

Hi Everyone! Miss Amy has a dear friend who is in need of some "Thinking of you cards", for a dear friend who is fighting cancer so I thought a nice soft cheerful one was in order! It's going in the mail today.

I laid a Hero Arts - Basic Grey stencil called Floral Vines over my watercolor paper and just filled in the stencil with different colors and let dry. After that was done I went back and added darker watercolor for the centers for a more dimensional flower and then I added tiny dots in the center of the flowers. I love this fun stencil! The butterflies are from Prima, and the little leaf is cut from a Maggie Holmes Rose die and then water-colored.
I'm entering this card in the Hero Arts Nature Challenge
Have a wonderful day! Char

Another bird card. I couldn't resist :-) This time on a Christmas card! I'm going to start making my Christmas cards now because I'm always short at the end of the year and you know how crazy that time of the year is!

I'm entering this card in Virginia's View Challenge , all things embossed  :-)
I watercolored my background with various blue's, purples and greens . I used a stencil and embossed with white for the snow. I like the different size flakes. The stamp set at the bottom is from Mama Elephant and it's an exclusive at Studio Calico only. I was going to post the link but I don't see it anymore and I'm not sure if they will get it in :-(. I think the only thing I would have done differently is to have inked the big sentiment on white instead of black but what's done is done :-)
(Side note) My apt with the surgeon is finally at the end of this hopefully surgery soon!
Have a great day! Char

Mixed Media Card Challenge ~ Hint of spring

Hi Everyone! It's time again for this months challenge at The Mixed Media Card Challenge! This month the theme is spring with an optional element  : Bird

For my card I used several stamps for the background including a big woodgrain stamp. I embossed with white and then watercolored the background. I did the same technique with the heart. The bird and heart stamps are from Dina Wakley. She just came out with another bird stamp set which I promptly ordered. I also like Tim Holtz new bird stamps...Their quirkly and my daughter says their freaky lol......but I love them!
I hope you can play along this month! Here's the link!

Just for you!

Hi! I hope your having a wonderful week! The weather has been crazy here. Its in the 70's and everything that normally blooms in March is already blooming and they started two weeks ago! My roses, all the trees, and then when I look at all the bad weather the east is getting.... crazy!! Were setting heat records and were still in a drought so that concerns me. We need more rain!
A very loose interpretation of the sketch, but I'm playing this week at CAS(E) this sketch :-)

I started off by layering different distress inks on top of watercolor paper, then spritzed a stencil with water and laid it on top of the distress inks. I love the cool technique this achieves. The roses are from Altenew and it is by far my favorite rose stamp set. I wish they made the exact one in a bigger size too :-)
Thanks for visiting ! Hugs, Char

Hi Friends! Just checking in :-). I'm still waiting for a surgeon to call me to schedule my surgery. The 1st one my doctor referred me to has retired and apparently he didn't know it. So waiting for the second one to call. Meanwhile I'm eating about 12 grams of fat a day and that eliminates the attacks thank goodness!

I went into my craft room and played a little this weekend. It felt weird after not making cards for about three weeks and I'm surprised that it felt so weird.  (What's with that! )  Anyway,  I started by water coloring the background and stamping some PTI Butterflies. I basically took vellum and covered the front and  stitched it around except the top. I added the sequins before stitching up the top. I embossed the sentiment on more vellum, then I added the frame around it, some washi tape and that's it.
I hope your having a great week! Hugs, Char

Hi Friends! I hope you had a great weekend!  Feeling better every day. Although I took the grand kids this last Saturday...I hadn't
seen them in three weeks. So when I got to their house my son asked is I would take them  dress shopping. What an experience! MY oldest GD Jasmine, is 8 and very easy and has simple tastes. Found a dress right off the bat . Liberty who is 6 loves the bright colors and bling...needless to say I sent my son pictures of every dress  Liberty's picked out  and  my son x-nayed all of her choices. After a few stores she was getting mad. I tried to explain to her that her Dad wanted something in soft colors without bling for church and she says, my Dad has always told us to be confident and to not be  afraid to be why is he trying to choose what I wear? I explained that she is six and there are times when bling just doesn't work for some occasions.  And my oldest GD pipes up and says...I'm sorry Grandma but I have to agree with Liberty on this lol!! We finally found a dress that Dad and Liberty liked from The Gap...Thank God! I dropped them off and was in bed by 8:00 lol! I sat down for the 1st time in awhile and made some cards. I thought that the Papertrey challenges would be fun! I used the sketch and color theme below.

I started by embossing some PTI hearts of to the left and then used the colors above to watercolor the background, the heart, arrow and love word are all from PTI
Have a great week! Char

The Mixed Media Card challenge ~ Love

Hi Friends! I want to thank you for all the well wishes ! Your the best! I'm all recovered from the pneumonia , yay! I'm waiting for a referring doctor to call me re: the gallbladder....meanwhile I'm on a no fat diet and have lost 20 pounds in the last few weeks. I haven't had anymore attacks since I've been eating this way but I feel like I'm turning into a rabbit with all the veggies and fruits I'm eating lol! I'm sorry this card is late in posting, I had it done last month but was just to sick to post. On the 1st started a new challenge started at The Mixed Media Card Challenge!

Here's my card. I started by spritzing paint on the stencil and laying it down on my paper. Once that was dry I put the stencil back down and added embossing paste. Then I just layered a bunch of Maggie Holmes Ephemera !
Hugs, Char

Bye for now

Hi Friends

A quick update.. I was sick last week when I was diagnosed with gallstones and went to the doctors on Sunday and now have pneumonia. I'm at home from work resting a lot but I've made a few decisions . I need to make myself better,  I need to concentrate on my health for my kids and my grandkids  , so I have sadly stepped down from two of my design teams. I will no longer be on City  Crafter design team, or Paper Sweeties. It's a sad decision to make but I have a lot of stress in my life right now and I need to concentrate on me for the moment . As much as I love those two Design Teams its the deadlines that add to my already full plate. I want to be able to create when I stress for now.  I wanted to let you know as my blog will be more silent for a few ,  but my love for paper crafts will bring me back when I'm well and healthy again ! Thank all of you girls for all of your support and well wishes! I have made such wonderful friends and I love this community that we have ! I will visit your blogs soon when I can  , I'm sure I'll be laying around healing ! See you soon friends !!

CAS(E) this Sketch Guest Designer

Hi Friends! Today I'm the Guest Designer at CAS(E) this sketch! Unfortunately, I have been very sick since Christmas. I have had three attacks that were unbearable. I went to the doctor yesterday and had an Ultrasound and it's my Gallbladder. I have stones and will have to have surgery. I didn't get my cards to Chrissy in time (yesterday,) was in horrible pain. I was a bit better today but sleeping alot and the heating pad is my best friend! Anyway , that's it for now....going back to bed :-(. Thanks Chrissy, I'm so honored!!

This technique is done by expermenting! I used a brayer and paint on an embossing folder. You don't run the embossing folder thru any machines, you just brayer the paint onto the folder put the paper inside and run your fingers over the folder to spread the paint. I added three different colors of paint each time. I think I really like this technique!
