Miss You

Hi! I hope your having a great week so far! It's cooling down to around 97 here and it totally makes a difference in the fact that it's tolerable! The mornings are crisp and cool and makes me giddy that fall is around the corner!

I cut  the background with my trusty Cameo. I have found that it cuts watercolor paper like butter and you can cut intricate things easily. I water colored the background and butterflies with watercolor paint this time. I want to invest in some high quality watercolor but need to research fist. It's something I love to do so I don't mind the investment. The tag is PTI's newest tag sale die.

Nothing new here. Still nursing my arm and going to Chico on Saturday to see my baby! She's 2 months already and getting so big! Here's a video of her. My daughter said she is making a howling sound so she video taped it. It's so funny! I can't believe at 8 weeks she's doing this. Turn up the sound :-)

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day! Hugs, Char

Best Friend

Hi Friends! I hope your week is going great! It's almost over :-) I love my weekends but they don't last very long...but I always look on the bright side....at least I have a job right? Otherwise I wouldn't be able to buy my card making goodies and that would be horrible!...I made this card with PTI's newest Make it market kit. I used the Memento Luxe . I LOVE these inks! Their pigment inks and go on so nice and crisp!

I hope I have some time to make some cards tonight, I got the MRI back on my shoulder...that's a story for another day , huh Sue ?lol!! All is good...no damage or tears....just frozen shoulder.... the radiologist said you don't have to do anything they just happen to women your age .........really? I'm hearing that a lot lately and must say I'm not fond if it lol!! I hope you have a great weekend! The weather is coming down to around 99 and the air is actually cool in the morning....I'm getting so excited for fall, my favorite time of the year! Hugs, Char

City Crafter Challenge # 224 Roses

Hi Friends! I hope your having a great week so far! It's time for a new challenge at City Crafter And it's the very talented Anna's turn to host and she has chosen my favorite flowers as a challenge......

Theme : ROSES
Make a project using at least one rose (flower, stamp, paper, etc) You can make a card, tag, ATC, LO or any sort of project.

These roses remind me of the ones in my yard! In the spring they look like these, in the summer heat their half the size..its just to hot for them!

Here's my card. I started with water coloring the background with some aqua and yellows. After that was dry and splattered some of the same colors only stronger. The flowers are from PTI Make It Market called "Beautiful Brushstrokes". After I water colored in all the flowers I drew a frame around the flowers with a permanent black pen.

Our Guest Designer this week comes from France, and her name is Dawn! Please stop by her blog and say hi!

I hope you can play along this week!

Hop over to CCCB and take a look at all the projects from our team this week!

Thanks for stopping by! Hugs, Char

Sending Happy Thoughts your way

Hi Friends! Just poppin in to share a card I made awhile back and forgot to share.

For the sun rays I colored the back of a stencil with distress markers, sprayed a bit of water and laid  it on the watercolor paper. I intensified the yellow after it was dry with some more distress pens and blended with my water color brush. The cut the city out twice and water colored the buildings. After that was dry I used some foam tape and layered then off center from each other. The heart is embossed with some gold glitter embossing powder. The stamp is from Altenew called sketchy city.

I hope you have an awesome weekend!!! I'm watching Kinley tomorrow and can't wait. She's 7 weeks already!

City Crafter Challenge Blog 223 Home is where the heart is

Hi everyone! This week its my turn to host at City Crafter and I've chosen the Theme

Make a card or project using a house
I fell in love with this house! Its adorable! You don't have to make a Christmas house, any house is great!

Well I had a mini album made for this challenge, but when I went to take a picture of it..... it was no where to be found!! How could a mini album just disapear? I have looked high and low...it will show up when I'm not looking right? So I had to scurry and make a card :-) I started by embossing a piece of watercolor paper and water colored it with some distress inks. The houses are cut with my Cameo. I also ran the houses through my big shot with a wood grain embossing folder and then water colored those. After everything was done I couldn't find a place to put the sentiment and thats when vellum comes in handy :-)

Our Guest Designer is Lula ! Come join in the fun and be inspired by the CCCB Designers

Mixed Media Card Challenge #2 Summer

Hi Friends!   Can you believe it is already August??!! :)  Another month has gone by and it's time for the next Mixed Media Challenge (#2 - Summer:  optional element - burlap).  We had an incredible amount of participants for our first challenge (Touch of Nature) and the DT enjoyed looking at all the beautiful creations - thanks so much for playing along with us! :)

 Challenge #2 ...

For my card I added three colors of distress paint to an embossing folder, laid watercolor paper inside and ran it through my Big Shot. Added distress paint to color the inside of roses. I Shabbied up some burlap so the color would show through the wings. This awesome butterfly is from Memory Box and is called Asti. This awesome die only cuts out the wings so you have so many choices!

And this is what the card looked like before the burlap went on. I think the burlap helped break up the colors. Don't you?

I hope you can play along this month! It's a lot of fun!!! Have a great weekend, I have the girls tonight and am excited! Hugs, Char

Sending you Sincere thanks

Hi Friends!

I wanted to pop in and share a card I made for an angel on earth. Let me explain... A co-worker of mine has a daughter who has needed a kidney transplant  since she was 9 and shes 14 now. My co-worker had a place reserved at a Ronald McDonald house for $20.00 a night. They called her last week and said they were able to finally start construction on their expansion but she had to find alternative housing because the transplant patients couldn't stay there during construction. Her surgery is scheduled for next Friday. I couldn't believe they did this to all the transplant patients right before their surgery. Its stressful enough to have her daughter go Thur this without having no where to stay at the last minute!! So my co-workers and I raised $3000.00 for the hotel she was going to have to stay at. $140.00 was the cheapest and the hospital mandates that after the surgery the patients have to stay within a certain distance from the hospital for a few weeks.

I remembered I have a friend who's cousin lives by the hospital so I called her and asked her if she would call them and see if they knew of anything within a mile of the hospital. She posted it on a site called Nextdoor and got three replies immediately! One of the people she had met before and this lady had volunteered at this hospital for 33 years! She has a 3 bedroom house with an in law quarters attached. It has a pool and the best news? FREE for as long as my co-worker needs it!! Is that the BEST story? It brought tears to my eyes and my co-worker meets her tomorrow to work out the details! So that stress of off my co-worker and she can concentrate on her daughter :-) So, I made this card for my friend's cousin who facilitated the meeting and truly is an angel:-) Prayers to my co-worker and her daughter  for a successful transplant.

Coast

Hi Friends! I'm back from vacation and want to share a few pictures :-) I dreaded coming back to the heat! We have had a very weird summer with excessive days over 100. More like 108..I don't now about you but that kind of heat wears on me. If my kids weren't here I would seriously think about moving lol!!

This is my favorite beach in Trinidad..It's called Luffenholtz Beach. The road to get to it was washed out at one time a few years back and only 1 lane for a stretch. But so worth the drive...This stretch of the ocean is located on a road called Scenic Dr. There is access to the beach...just a walk down some stairs

This is another part of the same road, it has a rocky cliff that you can walk out to

I drove down this country road and it was sooooooo creepy......So many houses were just left deserted and still standing . Thought it was interesting to share...I have alot more houses but am only boring you with a few :-)

An old school

This was another house on the same road...deserted and creepy.....

And this was a garage next to the house above...it was on a country lane that lead to the beach..There were a few shacks that some people lived in but a lot empty too

This was a house I almost missed...it collapsed and all the trees and berry bushes were covering it

And these two buildings were next to the collapsed house

Even the trees on this road were different. I couldn't get them all in with my cell phone

And when I  got home I found this beautiful card in my mailbox from Ros (Thank you Ros!! )

I need to get around to your blogs soon! I have been having a problem with my shoulder and have an MRI set up for next week. I'm told I have something called frozen shoulder. All I know is I didn't do anything to it but I can't lift my right arm very high and it hurts horribly :-(. So needless to say I havent been on the computer much...I'm trying to rest it and stretch it. After the MRI and it dosent show that I have damage I have to start physical therapy. My doctor told me its very common in "women my age"......what the heck!!! See you soon! Char

PTI Blog Hop

Hi Friends! It's that time of the month again...PTI Blog Hop~~!!
Here's the inspiration picture

And my cards. For the 1st one I started my stamping with PTI Background Basics.Gingham Stamp set in Pure Poppy. Layered a heart doily on top, followed by some stamped banners from Banner Builder and the new make It Market Beautiful Brushstrokes

Next up a card made with Note Niblets Stamp Set . I embossed six banners and water colored them in Hawaiian Shores and Pure Poppy. The weird thing is the colors look different. Must be because of the embossing. I lined them up on an angle added a sentiment and flicked some watercolor in the background with the same colors.

That''s it for me this month! What a fun inspiration picture !! Thanks for visiting! Hugs, Char

Hi Friends! It's the fabulous Kirsty's turn to host this week and she has chosen the theme:

Christmas in July (never too early, so YES, make a Christmas card for the challenge this week :-)

I hope you can play along! With it being 110 in Redding it was hard to make a Christmas card  :-) Ummm I wonder if Kirsty had the same problem? I used the stamp set from Hero Arts called Wreath of leaves. I embossed the stamp set with Shabby Shutters embossing powder. The poinsettia die is from IO and the house is PTI. Still at the coast and having a great time for my B'day!  Be back soon :-) Hugs, Char

City Crafter Challenge #220 Chipboard Challenge

Hi and Happy Tuesday! Its Anna's turn this week to pick the challenge and she has chosen the theme:

The Challenge: To use at least 1 chipboard

For my card I made my own embellie by embossing chipboard and than painting it, and sanding. For the embossing I used this embossing folder called patchwork. The paper is a combination of digital and Studio Calico South of Market pp. The sentiment is from PTI as is the border. I added some lace on top of the turquoise frame and finished off with some acrylic paint.

GD: Robyn (spotlight artists award winner week 206)

The winner this week is going to win this packet of Chipboard Alphabets from Maya Road, sponsored by Kirsty.

I hope you can play along this week girls! To play go here , stop by and see the awesome DT's creations!

U Rock!

Hi There! I just wanted to share another card I made for The Mixed Media Card Challenge Blog! For the challenge go here! You still have some time to join in the fun!

For my card I embossed my watercolor paper by running the stencil with an embossing mat through my Big Shot to get the impression onto the paper. Then I laid the stencil back over the paper and used my blending tool and distress inks to add the desired color to the dry embossed part. Its easy and a fun way to make a back ground :-) I finished off by adding several sheets of patterned paper to the background and added a strip of double sided tape to the bottom,  pulled off the paper and added gold glitter. The sentiment is from Altenew and it's called "Label Love", the bird is from Hero Arts ,  and the heart is embossed with some Orange Zing embossing powder.

I can't leave with out posting a current picture of Miss Kinley :-) You know us grandma's :-)

I told my daughter that since she lives in another town I NEED a picture of Kinley every day, every day :-), so this was my picture on Tuesday snapped with her phone! I love this little girl so much and threaten to steel her every day! I'm having a sleepover with the other grans on Friday...I'm trying to talk Destiny into coming up for the night with Kinley. The other grands LOVE Miss Kinley  and smile from ear to ear when they see her :-) ......it would be fun to have all my girls  in one place for a sleepover!

I hope you can play along with the MMCC, it's so much fun to get your hands inky!! Hugs, Char

City Crafter Challenge # 219 Sunshine and Lavender

Hi Friends! It's my turn to host this week at City Crafter and I picked the theme:

Sunshine and Lavender (make a card or project using the colors yellow and lavender)

I started  by blending some distress ink for the yellow back ground. The stars are cut with a die, and then stamped and water colored with more distress inks. The sentiment is PTI that I backed with patterned paper.

This weeks Guest Designer is karasiowa ! She is a very talented designer, and layers cards fabulous!

I hope you can play along this week! I love seeing your cards in the gallery!! If you want to play go here and be sure to check out the amazing DT's creations! Hugs, Char
