Hello Friend

Hi Friends! I hope your having a great week! When I saw that Winnie and Walter are having a wonderful challenge I had to play! They have teamed up with Ellen Hudson! I'm selecting the day 1 challenge...Floral..I know I just LOVE florals, and  since I just got Julie Ebersole's Mondo Hydrangea it was a perfect set to use!

I started by selecting Winnie and Walter's stamp set The Big, The Bold and the happy for the sentiment. The long strip that looks like stained glass is from their set called True . I embossed everything in Platinum embossing powder and used distress inks in various hues of purple for the flower and strips. That's it for me :-) I hope you will play along, there's lots of goodies to be had :-)

Hello, how are you

Hi Blog Buddies! I hope you have a wonderful Memorial Weekend! I am going to the coast tomorrow with Destiny and Kinley!  I need to go get Kinley some sand toys :-)

I started my background with a stencil and distress inks. I just wiped the inks on to the stencil and sprayed with water.  After dry I added a piece of Vellum to the BG. The flowers are from Altenew and so easy to ink up, as long as you have a Misti....I was thinking the other day....how did I stamp layers before?  I'm not sure I like the different tones of blue...maybe to much? I don't think it's my favorite card, but going out of my box :-)

I'm playing  along with the Fusion Challenge!

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!!! HUGS, CHAR

This and that

Hi Friends~ I hope you had a great weekend! I'm sorry for the absence, but sometimes I have to regroup after court stuff. It's so much on my heart and mind, I shut down. John's court stuff is postponed until June. Here's how I see it.......It's like three deaths, but with deaths over a period of time you start healing, but with John and the girls stuff, the nightmare keeps continuing and it never goes away, so you never get any peace, or have time to heal. So, I just take one day at a time, and craft when I feel up to it :-)

I made a few tags with Wplus 9 stamps, embossed the flowers with Platinum embossing powder and  water colored them. The tag toppers are from Reverse Confetti.

And for this little card I used Papertrey's new Make it Market kit, for the base of the card and Reverse Confetti's new Candles and confetti stamps and dies. The checkered paper if new from My Favorite Things

That's it for me :-) Have a wonderful week friends! Hugs, Char

Thank You so very much

Hi Friends! Happy Monday! I hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day! I went to the nursery yesterday and bought a 2 cubic bag of potting soil,(BIG bag), some flowers. Went home and trimmed everything, added potting soil to the pots and fertilized, planted flowers. I was on my last pot to add dirt to and was sitting in a plastic chair because it was by the pot, I was scooping out dirt and my chair broke and down I went lol!! Now I could say it was my weight but I just lost 70 pounds, so I think the chair was old and worn down from the sun , but I wish someone had a video on me because it was funny as heck! I wrenched my back but I'm sure it will be O.K.

I made this card for Shay at Winnie and Walter. Girls, I'm telling you these ladies are the nicest ! They are WONDERFUL!!

I watercolored a piece of watercolor paper with some pink's and yellows. Cut different sizes of frames for the base of the card and used "So Tweet" stamp set with the sweetest birds!

Have a wonderful week girls! Hugs, Char

Heartfelt Thanks

Hi and Happy Thursday! This sweet Mama Elephant stamp came in the mail when I as on vacation, I couldn't wait to play with it!

I used Watercolors to color in the image, splattered some Mr. Huey in white all over the card. I cut some vellum, and white cardstock with Pretty Pink Posh Stitched Borders Die, and Stitched Borders 3 dies at the bottom and wrapped twine. That's it!

My boss asked me how long it truly took me to relax on vacation,  I said two weeks minimum . He said it is wonderful to see me happy and smiling, because I've had a horrific year,  then he asked me how long I think it will last (my job is stressful) , I told him I'd let him know lol!

Have a wonderful day! Hugs, Char

Hello

Hi Friends! Well, I'm back from a much needed vacation! I wound up taking two full weeks, and I've never done that :-). I truly got away, relaxed and re-energized! I went to Oceanside, then drove to Laughlin, as a friend of mine had a golf tournament. We were given balcony rooms and it was the Blues and brews weekend, so I sat on my balcony and listened to blues music! While in Laughlin I went across the river and was in Arizona. I went to a small town off Route 66 called Oatman. It's a small ghost town/mining town and in it's hay day the miners would use donkeys in the mines. After things went belly up they let the donkeys go wild, and to this day the donkeys come into town every day (Walk in the middle id the street)  and the tourist's feed them lol! We had to wait about 15 minutes for the road to clear enough to drive thru! Also, in this little town, Clark Gable and Carol Lombard had their honeymoon. They have the room glassed off but you could see inside. Pretty cool! I asked why he would get married in a small town like that and they said he liked to play poker with the miners and it was a nice quiet town off Route 66. It got me to thinking it would be fun one day to drive the whole Route 66. I loved San Diego and Oceanside.....beautiful!

Here's more info on the town

Oatman started life over 100 years ago as a mining tent camp, and quickly became a flourishing gold-mining center. In 1915, two miners struck a $10 million gold find, and within a year, the town's population grew to more than 3,500.
Olive Oatman
Olive Oatman. Chin tattoo was given her by the Mojave Indians, who reportedly treated her well

Oatman was named in honor of Olive Oatman, who as a young girl, was kidnapped by an Apache tribe, sold toMojave Indians and later rescued in a trade in 1857 near the current site of the town. Oatman was served by a narrow gauge rail line between 1903 and 1905 that ran 17 miles to the Colorado River near Needles, California.
But both the population and mining booms were short-lived. In 1921, a fire burned down many of the smaller shacks in town, and three years later, the main mining company, United Eastern Mines, shut down operations for good. Oatman survived by catering to travelers on old U.S. Route 66. But in the 1960s, when the route became what is now Interstate 40, Oatman almost died.
Oatman is a fun place to visit -- an authentic old western town with burros roaming the streets and gunfights staged on weekends. The burros are tame and can be hand fed.  I was surprised to see five old Model T Fords out for a Sunday drive down the main street of Oatman. The cars fit right in with the romantic image of this old town, taking us back to 1915 era old west.
The Oatman Hotel, built in 1902, is the oldest two-story adobe structure in Mojave County and has housed many miners, movie stars, politicians and other scoundrels. The town was used as the location for several movies such as How The West Was Won, Foxfire and Edge of Eternity.

Clark Gable and Carol Lombard honeymooned at the Oatman Hotel March 18, 1939. Their honeymoon suite is still one of the major attractions at the Oatman Hotel. Gable returned there often to play poker with the local miners and enjoy the solitude of the desert.

Oatman's "wild" burros are the descendants of burros brought here by the miners in the late 1800s; when the miners no longer needed them, they were turned loose. Each morning they come into town looking for food. They wander the streets and greet the tourists. Burro pellets and carrots are for sale at many of the shops -- the burros will eat all day if you feed them. Shortly before sunset they wander back to the hills for the night.

Many of the shopkeepers make their own products and obtain other rare and interesting items from far and near. There are many handmade leather goods, handmade Indian jewelry and excellent knives sold right from the wooden sidewalks running the length of the town.
Local gunfights are staged on the weekends

Map of Oatman's location in the Mohave Desert

There are two main roads linking Oatman to State Highway 95. One is paved and the other is a dirt road leading to Bullhead City about 25 miles away. The dirt road is in fairly good condition and is certainly a pleasurable egress from Oatman. The scenery along this route is excellent and will really make you feel like you're back in the untamed days of the old west.

You can see the old mine tailing piles and a fascinating variety of desert vegetation and rock formations.

So my daughter says, mom you never go anywhere except the ocean......I happen to love the ocean. I can honestly say, I'm NOT a   dessert person, I'm a water, and trees kinda girl :-) But I can say I venture out of my comfort zone and will go back to the ocean next year lol!

Have a great day! Char

Thank you for being you!

Good Morning! I hope your having a wonderful week! I made this card the same day I made the other one. It's in the same colors, but a different  variation. I thought it would be fun to do the image in half colors! I stamped the image twice on 2 pieces of water color paper making sure it was in the same place. For this I used my Misti...I really don't know how we lived without it! My opinion is, it's worth every penny if you stamp a lot. I colored in the image on one piece, cut it and lined it up with the un-colored image. Does that make sense? It's easy to do and different. What do you girls think?

Sprinkkle life with a little silliness

Hi ! Well it's Sunday and raining. I'm meeting with some friends that are coming up from sac at noon, I can't wait :-) . Then coming home for some card time! Yay for Rainey days! I'm going to visit my son tomorrow and will be going on a much needed vacation on the 17th thru the 27th. I haven't had a vacation in two years in between all the things happening . it's a good time to take a few weeks,  May will be busy with court stuff :-( .

When I saw this stamp,  I thought it was so cute ! I'm normally not a chicken person but I really liked it ! coloring images is so relaxing to me anymore I'm trying to build up my Copic markers collection but it's so expensive , so I do it a little at a time , not to mention you can't find them anywhere lately ! hopefully that'll get remedied soon  !

Have a fantastic day! Hugs,char

Wishing you the most beautiful day

Happy Friday! I hope you girls have had a wonderful week! I get Kinley today and am always so excited! I told Destiny she should have another baby and give Kinley to me :-) Shes such a sweetheart and makes my heart happy :-) I haven't had a lot of time in the last few weeks to make cards, but I did last night. This flower set is from the new Hero Arts kit and I LOVE it! Water coloring is so therapeutic for me!

I hope you had a wonderful Easter! Hugs, Char

Happy Easter

Happy Easter! I made a few Easter cards. This 1st on is for Miss Kinley! She is definitely my Happy!

I've been having a great time practicing with my copics, its very relaxing. Sometimes , after a hard day at work, my eyes don't like it very much :-)

Happy Easter friends!!

Be Brave be Original

Hi Friends! Sometimes when I'm not feeling very crafty and I sit and stare at a card that's not coming together, I've found that it doesn't help to sit and stare, so when that happens I will color an image, or watercolor a background etc...at least it's still doing something fun. That's the case with this background, I have many sitting around my craft room. ready to be made!

I used the PTI cover plate  for this card,  but my watercolor background wasn't big enough, so I cut the butterflies apart and arranged to fit. I hand stitched the bodies of the butterflies with some colored thread, and believe me......that's a stretch for me lol I'll sew a card on a machine, but I really dislike hand sewing. The sentiment is heat embossed in white and the stamp set I used is called  "Be"

Thank You girls for the wonderful support and prayers!
Hugs, Char

Go get carried away on your birthday

Hi Friends! I hope you had a wonderful weekend? I had Kinley and she's always my comfort and happiness! She is the light in my life , and I'm so thankful for her! I'll post a video I took on my phone this weekend of her watching "The Wiggles", their a group from Australia I believe and a friend told he how much her kids adore them, so I played one of their songs for her.

This set is from Mama Elephant. I think it's a very sweet set! I blended some distress Ink for the background and spritzed with water. Very easy to do. Colored in the little girl with copics, and I watered colored the balloon with graduated color like the BG.

I'll leave you with Kinleys video. Be sure and turn the sound up :-)

Thanks for stopping by! Hugs, Char

Just for you

Hi Friends! Thank You for all the well wishes for last Monday. I'm afraid that the court system is very broken, and they have postponed things for another three months. I had a mini meltdown, but I'm  back up and ready to fight. I've never in my life had to go to court, and see how things work, but I'm appalled seeing our system in action. They don't care about people, they only care about politics. It's so sad and breaks my heart.

I'm drowning my heartache and constant stress with Kinley and crafts, both are lifesavers. This card is made with a  Hero Arts stamp  called "For You flowers color layering" I used various inks...I don't usually stick with one brand, but mix and match, and I'm definitely very bad at writing  down what I use . I finished off with a strip of gold glitter, some sequins in gold, I splattered some ink and pp.

I just want to say THANK YOU for all your support and prayers, it means the world to me, you girls are the best! Hugs, Char

Chirp,Chirp,Chirp Happy Easter

Hi Friends! I hope you have a wonderful weekend? Mine was relaxing. On Saturday it was so windy and rainy and I couldn't get warm, so I  thought I'd get under the covers and before you knew it I took a 4 hour nap! I guess I needed it. I went to see my son on Sunday, and today I have court for the girls :-(. Prayers please :-)

This little card is made with Lawn Fawn's new stamp set called Chirp,Chirp,Chirp . I think it's such an adorable stamp set! I started by masking off the chicks and stacking them on top of each other. I had no real plans for the card and after they were stacked, I thought now what :-)lol I decided to make it look like they are helping each other paint the egg. I think I'll send this one to Kinley for Easter :-)

Kinley and her Mom went to Disneyland this weekend and I told Destiny I'd like to have a picture of Kinley and Mickey....She looks unsure of Mickey and I  don't have all  the pictures yet,  but Destiny assures me that Kinley warmed up to him and she has pictures of Kinley hugging him and a picture of them nose to nose lol!

I hope you have a wonderful week!! Hugs, Char

So sweet of you

Hi Friends!   I guess I'm still on a flower kick and still making cards with my new goodies. Except for the embossing folder, the rest is PTI.  The flowers are called Bold Blossoms, the stamping on the background is from the set,  Brushed Off .  The embossing folder is from Taylored Expressions and you can find it here . I know it's a weird color combination. I made it for the PTI Blog hop , but didn't get it up in time. I thought that the combination wasn't me, but in the end I think I like it lol

And last but not least, I am excited to share I won the Hero Arts Fabulous Flowers Challenge!!!! I couldn't believe my eyeballs Whoo Hoo!!!

Have a great day! Hug's, Char
