Ciity Crafter Challenge 234 A piece of sky

Hi Friends! Ros is our fabulous hostess this week at City Crafter and has chosen the theme:
A piece of Sky (make a card or project that includes one of the following - Stars, moon, sun, rain, cloud, snow)

Here's my card: I started by embossing the moon with white embossing powder. It is a resist for I could so the sky and not worry about ink sticking to it. I blended some distress inks in the background to make the sky. After I added the inks and was happy with the sky I splattered water to make stars like in the picture. The spooky clouds are from PTI as is the fence, cat and sentiment. I added some ink around the clouds and on the fence to make it look like the Moon is shining on the fence. I used Chipped Sapphire, and Mustard Seed Distress Inks. I also embossed the fence with a wood grain embossing folder.

Our Guest Designer this week is the fabulous Greta!! She is our month long Guest Designer!
This week 's prize is sponsored by Ros !
(Fairy Paper pack)
I hope you can play along this week!! Hugs, Char

Thankful for you

Hi Friends! One more fall card...I think :-) I made this card with PTI Leaf Prints Stamp Set. I started with Harvest gold as the first layer. Then I added Autumn Rose, Canyon Clay, Orange Zest, Berry Sorbet Sorbet. I added some gold embossing to some of the stamp tips. The sentiment is from Autumn Adornments. A bit of splatter of gold in the background and some twine to finish.

I hope your having a great day!! Hugs, Char

I started by flicking some gold, orange and blue paint on the background. The stamps I used are from Cocoa Daisy. I use to belong to their stamp club and am ashamed to say I haven't had a chance to use alot of them, so these stamps were perfect for this weeks challenge!

Happy Spooky Halloween

Hi! Well I finally started PT on my frozen shoulder...Praying it gets better! Have patience with me on leaving comments...I try but my arm starts hurting so I don't get to you guys as much as I want :-(. I can use the arm to do most everything as long as I have my arm close to my body but typing I have to extend it and it tires easily. OK nuf complaining lol

For this card I stamped some, embossed some but a very easy card to make. The sentiment is from PTI and the stamps I believe are from stampendous and it's called Halloween diamonds. I love that little skeleton!
I hope you have a wonderful day and thanks for stopping by, I appreciate you guys so much for your encouragement and kind comments! Hugs, Char

Theme: Leaves (make a project with leaves)

I die cut a bunch of leaves and inked them up with distress inks and then put a coat of Ranger Glossy Accents over the leaves, the border is PTI, the wood grain paper is a digital paper. (Not sure where I got it) Finished with twine.

Our special guest this week is the fabulous Greta!! Please stop by her blog and see her wonderful work! Welcome Greta!!
Also there's some awesome creations from the DT, check it out :-)
I hope you can play along this week! Hugs, Char

Happy World Card Making Day!

Hi Friends!! Happy World Card Making Day! I had to take a friend to Sacramento to catch the train so I'm not sure what the challenges are over at Walter and Winnie today,  but did a few cards with my favorite Halloween stamp Moonlight  set before I left ! I]ll get back late today and hopefully have some time on Sunday to make more :-)

Edited to aldd this challenge Winnie and Walter Color Challenge
I started out by watercoloring the background. The leaves were cut with my Silhouette and are digital cuts from Winnie and Walter as is the frame. I shrunk them to 2" and boy were they so fine and fragile lol....coloring them I had to be so careful not to rip them, next time I'll make them a bit bigger :-). After the frame was cut I pulled out the sentiment and embossed gold around the outline. The splatters are Hero Arts Gold glimmer spray. I LOVE the spray, its a very pretty gold for the holidays!

Have a great day!! Hugs, Char

Mixed Media Challenge #4 Vintage

HI There! It's time again for The Mixed media Card Challenge!! This month our theme is Vintage!
For my card I chose a stamp and die set by Tim Holtz. When I saw this Santa I fell in love! I also love the vintage ornament that comes with this set. I started with strips of patterned paper, then I pained a coat of gesso over the paper. When that was dry I used an Ivy and Berry stencil by Tim Holtz and used Ranger embossing paste over the stencil. On a side note...I LOVE this paste!! It goes on super smooth and absorbs color!  So, after the paste was dry I used some distressed ink to color in the leaves. For the ornament I used two colors of ink and blended. The Santa is colored with distressed ink and I used "A Wink of Stella" over the suit for shimmer.
I hope you can come join in the fun! Hugs, Char

Hi There! It's my turn to host this week at City Crafter and I thought some crazy pumpkins would be fun! So think about creating a crazy pumpkin card or project!
I can't wait to see what you make :-)
Theme: Colorful Pumpkins of a different color (make a card or project with a pumpkin in any color EXCEPT orange) It can have a touch of orange , just not totally orange
I used the pumpkin die from PTI and plain card stock. I snuck in some orange felt leaves, the tag is also from PTI

and do check out the wonderful work of the CCCB Designers

Here's a new picture of my daughter and granddaughter. I want to steal her, she's so precious! She has a bit of red in her hair and her grampa  had red hair (  Irish). It's suppose to skip a generation but my other granddaughters didn't get it. I hope Kinley keeps it!

Creative Blog Hop

Good Morning Friends! I have been asked by my awesome friend Annette of "My clever creations"

to participate in the Creative Blog Hop. !
Annette posted her special post on the 22nd! If you missed it go here. If you've never been to Annette's blog your missing out, she is fun and her designs are fabulous! here are a few of my favorites Annette has designed.

I love the idea of this hop as we get to know a lot more about the people we visit and I don't know about you but I feel like you guys are my friends even if we haven't met. You share you family pictures, your life, your ups and downs and I get worried when you don't post for awhile! I  truly valued  each and every one of you!
O.K. On with the questions :-)
What am I working on?
I'm working on all my design team projects for the next month and trying to fit a Halloween card or two in as it's my favorite time of the year! . I try to stay a month ahead of the Holidays so I can get some homemade things made for friends and family:-). I also made this card for a friends daughter to give to her full picture soon :-)

How does my work differ from others of its genre?
Honestly, not sure! I feel like I don't have a style. When I first started making cards Melissa Phillips was my hero, and still is :-) SO, I started off with a shabby style with buttons, bows and layers :-) But, now, I spread my wings and  make all kinds of cards, CAS, layered, collage, etc...whatever the mood strikes!

Why do I create what I do?
I have always created in one way or another. I have a stressful job and creating makes me happy and helps the stress :-)! I've always created in one form or another. Years ago I did ceramics, then I moved onto Toll Painting (Are you girls and guys old enough to remember Tole Painting?) :-) anyway, I'm still doing a bit of that. I make Jewelry when I can. We have a cabinet at work to sell our Jewelry and I donate a percentage to women who can't afford a Mammogram they can get one for free. I also donate my cards at work. They have them on  the counter and sell them. What they make gets donated to Brest Cancer also. It makes me feel good to donate them to a great cause!
How does my creative process work
Funny question because I don't really have a process! Whatever peeks my creativity like a new stamp set, some  awesome paper, maybe it's a great sketch . When I sit down my card is a blank slate, but then again, so is my mind occasionally lol! If  that's the case I've learned over the years to walk away , and go back later. It works for me usually but really not good at deadline time yikes!  I look at magazines, pinterest, my wonderful friends blogs, anything out there that peeks my interest! Or sometimes when I can't sleep because the gremlins are busy causing havoc in my noggin I lay there and think of a card to make! Maybe I should just get up and make the dang card and then I'd be sleepy enough to sleep!
Thanks for letting me share with you all today. Thanks for being such great bloggy friends.

Have a wonderful and blessed day. Char

September 2014 Blog Hop Challenge

Hi! It's that time again for Paperytrey's Blog Hop!

I started with "Wreath for all seasons" stamp, this is probably the most CAS card Ive ever made. The card stock is Enchanted Evening, the wreath is stamped in Ripe Avocado and Autumn Rose ink, as is the sentiment. I finished the berries with a coat of Glossy Accents

I started off by embossing the card stock. The web's are from the Spider Web Trio cut from Smokey Shadow card stock. The spiders are from Tremendous Treats stamp set and water colored with Enchanted Evening. The card and banner are Autumn Rose.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!! Hugs, Char

City Crafter Challenge Week # 230 Focus on Sentiment

Hi friends! Happy Fall!!! Ros is our talented hostess this week at City Crafter and she has chosen the theme :

Focus on the Sentiment (make a card or project where the SENTIMENT is the focus point)

Here's what I came up with. The sentiment is from Tim Holtz. I water colored the background, and embossed the hearts with a glitter embossing powder.

Our Guest Designer is Agnieszka , stop by and say Hi!

I'm so excited for cooler weather! We are even supposed to get some rain at the end of the week, SO NEEDED! The scrapbook garage sale went well. I got rid of alot and the rest will go to the grandkids and what they don't want I will donate, but not back in my house lol!
I hope your having a wonderful week! Hugs, Char

Thankful for you

Hi! I hope your having a great week! I'm still plugging along getting stuff ready for the scrap booking sale this weekend. My daughter came up to Redding so I filled her trunk to take to Chico because I don't have a truck and don't have enough room is my HUGE trunk for it all . We have hot weather still and a lot of fires. This week the town of "Weed" practically burned to the ground. there church, library sad. I pray that we get some much needed rain here soon!

Meanwhile, found a minute to make this card. I cut the background with my Silhouette. The flowers are from Wplus9 and they called Pretty Peonies. The sentiment is Precious Remembrance..
