For some reason I'm in the mood to make Christmas cards early because every year I scramble to get them done. You can never have to many, right?
I just love this new die from Simon Says, its so fun and you can do a lot with it....it would be beautiful for a fall card, I was thinking as I typed this :-) The deer from Hero Arts and is another stamp set that I love. They have some spectacular layering stamps that look so realistic! I thought this needed some sequins after I took a picture of it :-)
I have to show you Miss Kinley's hair, she has the most beautiful natural curls and highlight's I've seen! I want her hair! She has been such a saving grace for me. I have her every weekend and she is a love, and loves to cuddle! Thank God for Kinley
Kinley with her new Princess Sophia doll (as she call her "Phia:)
And me niece had her baby! His name is William and he's so precious! His tiny PJ'S are so big for him :-) I'm sure he will grow into them fast!
I hope all is well with all of you? I just finished another round of court and just don't have it in me to blog much, but I will when I can :-) On the girls front we go back to court on the 26th and I think there will be better news :-) Thank You girls for all the support, your all so wonderful!
Hi Friends~! I hope all is well with you! I'm hanging in there :-). I had court yesterday and court next week. Johns stuff is scheduled for January and if there's no plea bargain by February then it will go to trail in Mar...Mar 8th. Thanks for all the encouragement and prayers
This is an old stamp from MFT, last year I think. They had a clearance on it and I thought it was so cute! The background bats are from Tim Holtz, and the background is ink blended and then spritzed with water. I copic colored the witch and cat.
Hi bloggy friends! Just popping in for a quick post. I've been busy slaying dragons in my own life :-) so I've been busy, but trying to still stay in the loop and visiting you girls when I can. I so enjoy seeing your beautiful cards! I hope all if well with each and every one of you!
This little card was made with the new My Favorite things Magical Dragons. Birdie Brown makes the cutest images in her stamp designs! And the frame is their new Cover Up Vertical .
Hi! A little Altenew to start off the day! This is their new set called
Bamboo Rose . I started by stamping the cardstock with Versamark. Then I cut the front watercolored piece with the Wonky Stitched rectangle. I white embossed the flowers and colored them in with my Zigs. Splattered some gold and pink watercolor. That's it!
Hi Friends! Sorry I've been missing . The court stuff went better and I will share soon. I just want to say Thank You for all the continued prayers, you girls are the best!
I haven't been making to many cards either, but had some time to play with this new guy. He's from Sugar Pea Designs , Nuts about you. The background is from Memory Box "Falling Maple" stencil. I taped it to my background and blended Distress Inks to get the variation in colors. Maybe its the 110 degree weather, but I long for fall! I can't believe that we have had so many days over 100. It's going to be a scorcher of a summer!
Hi Friends! I'm back from the ocean :-(....Destiny and Kinley came for a few days and we spent hours on the beach, looking for seashells and tide pools! We found both! It was so fun! I REALLY needed this time to de-stress and re-energize! I usually cry when I have to come home. I love the cool weather and the beauty!
I started out with a stencil of palm trees. Taped the stencil down onto watercolor paper and colored them in. Sewed on some vellum over the top to soften, added the awesome flamingo from hero Arts and that's it!
Here's a few coast pics :-)
This is Destiny, Kinley's and my feet inside the heart.
Kinley decided she wanted to lay down!
Larry put up the flag on the 4th, it looked so pretty against the beach!
I love the color of the water that day, looked turquoise!
Hi Friends! I am off to greener pastures, and cooler ones Yay!Brookings here I come, to temps of 70 instead of 108! I am going with some girlfriends, and Destiny and Kinley will be coming also, YAY! It will be so fun! I need this! I hope you all have a wonderful 4th!
This card is made with Altenew goodies. They have this sentiment set I fell in love with. I like how stamp companies are coming out with beautiful longer sentiments! This particular one is called Precious Moments. Look at all the different ways you can pair it up! The rose stamp is called Painted Rose
Hi Friends! Wow can you believe another post lol! I've really enjoyed my crafting lately, except by the time I get off work and get into it I want to stay up late, which is a hazard to my sleep!
This card was made with WPlus9's new Mums stamp. I LOVE their flower stamps, their reasonably priced and the design is already there! After coloring the flowers and water coloring the BG, and cut the frame with My Favorite Things Wonky Frames, love these too :-)
I will be at the coast starting Saturday. I need the break as I have court coming up July 18 for the girls, plus its been 108 here all week. Much to hot, usually this heat starts in July, not the middle of June :-( I wish you a fun filled July 4th with family and friends! Hugs, Char
Hi Friends! Happy Monday! It was a fun weekend. I took a friends 10 year old daughter to get her toes and fingers painted, and got her a new outfit, and took her to dinner :-) She is such a sweetheart! She asked if you could call me grandma? How cute is that? I also watched Kinley for about an hour so her mom could get her nails done. :-) She has this new thing where she comes up to us and puts us together for a group hug! It's so special!! LOVE that sweetheart!
Here's a quick card I made using MFT's new stamp set called Sweet Forrest Friends. The clouds are Papertrey Ink. I waterclored the clouds and hillside, and used Copics on the animals.
Hi Friends! I hope your having a great week! When I saw that Winnie and Walter are having a wonderful challenge I had to play! They have teamed up with Ellen Hudson! I'm selecting the day 1 challenge...Floral..I know I just LOVE florals, and since I just got Julie Ebersole's Mondo Hydrangea it was a perfect set to use!
I started by selecting Winnie and Walter's stamp set The Big, The Bold and the happy for the sentiment. The long strip that looks like stained glass is from their set called True . I embossed everything in Platinum embossing powder and used distress inks in various hues of purple for the flower and strips. That's it for me :-) I hope you will play along, there's lots of goodies to be had :-)
Hi Blog Buddies! I hope you have a wonderful Memorial Weekend! I am going to the coast tomorrow with Destiny and Kinley! I need to go get Kinley some sand toys :-)
I started my background with a stencil and distress inks. I just wiped the inks on to the stencil and sprayed with water. After dry I added a piece of Vellum to the BG. The flowers are from Altenew and so easy to ink up, as long as you have a Misti....I was thinking the other day....how did I stamp layers before? I'm not sure I like the different tones of blue...maybe to much? I don't think it's my favorite card, but going out of my box :-)
Hi Friends~ I hope you had a great weekend! I'm sorry for the absence, but sometimes I have to regroup after court stuff. It's so much on my heart and mind, I shut down. John's court stuff is postponed until June. Here's how I see it.......It's like three deaths, but with deaths over a period of time you start healing, but with John and the girls stuff, the nightmare keeps continuing and it never goes away, so you never get any peace, or have time to heal. So, I just take one day at a time, and craft when I feel up to it :-)
I made a few tags with Wplus 9 stamps, embossed the flowers with Platinum embossing powder and water colored them. The tag toppers are from Reverse Confetti.
And for this little card I used Papertrey's new Make it Market kit, for the base of the card and Reverse Confetti's new Candles and confetti stamps and dies. The checkered paper if new from My Favorite Things
That's it for me :-) Have a wonderful week friends! Hugs, Char
Hi Friends! Happy Monday! I hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day! I went to the nursery yesterday and bought a 2 cubic bag of potting soil,(BIG bag), some flowers. Went home and trimmed everything, added potting soil to the pots and fertilized, planted flowers. I was on my last pot to add dirt to and was sitting in a plastic chair because it was by the pot, I was scooping out dirt and my chair broke and down I went lol!! Now I could say it was my weight but I just lost 70 pounds, so I think the chair was old and worn down from the sun , but I wish someone had a video on me because it was funny as heck! I wrenched my back but I'm sure it will be O.K.
I made this card for Shay at Winnie and Walter. Girls, I'm telling you these ladies are the nicest ! They are WONDERFUL!!
I watercolored a piece of watercolor paper with some pink's and yellows. Cut different sizes of frames for the base of the card and used "So Tweet" stamp set with the sweetest birds!
Hi and Happy Thursday! This sweet Mama Elephant stamp came in the mail when I as on vacation, I couldn't wait to play with it!
I used Watercolors to color in the image, splattered some Mr. Huey in white all over the card. I cut some vellum, and white cardstock with Pretty Pink Posh Stitched Borders Die, and Stitched Borders 3 dies at the bottom and wrapped twine. That's it!
My boss asked me how long it truly took me to relax on vacation, I said two weeks minimum . He said it is wonderful to see me happy and smiling, because I've had a horrific year, then he asked me how long I think it will last (my job is stressful) , I told him I'd let him know lol!
Hi Friends! Well, I'm back from a much needed vacation! I wound up taking two full weeks, and I've never done that :-). I truly got away, relaxed and re-energized! I went to Oceanside, then drove to Laughlin, as a friend of mine had a golf tournament. We were given balcony rooms and it was the Blues and brews weekend, so I sat on my balcony and listened to blues music! While in Laughlin I went across the river and was in Arizona. I went to a small town off Route 66 called Oatman. It's a small ghost town/mining town and in it's hay day the miners would use donkeys in the mines. After things went belly up they let the donkeys go wild, and to this day the donkeys come into town every day (Walk in the middle id the street) and the tourist's feed them lol! We had to wait about 15 minutes for the road to clear enough to drive thru! Also, in this little town, Clark Gable and Carol Lombard had their honeymoon. They have the room glassed off but you could see inside. Pretty cool! I asked why he would get married in a small town like that and they said he liked to play poker with the miners and it was a nice quiet town off Route 66. It got me to thinking it would be fun one day to drive the whole Route 66. I loved San Diego and Oceanside.....beautiful!
Here's more info on the town
Oatman started life over 100 years ago as a mining tent camp, and quickly became a flourishing gold-mining center. In 1915, two miners struck a $10 million gold find, and within a year, the town's population grew to more than 3,500.
Olive Oatman. Chin tattoo was given her by the Mojave Indians, who reportedly treated her well
Oatman was named in honor of Olive Oatman, who as a young girl, was kidnapped by an Apache tribe, sold toMojave Indians and later rescued in a trade in 1857 near the current site of the town. Oatman was served by a narrow gauge rail line between 1903 and 1905 that ran 17 miles to the Colorado River near Needles, California.
But both the population and mining booms were short-lived. In 1921, a fire burned down many of the smaller shacks in town, and three years later, the main mining company, United Eastern Mines, shut down operations for good. Oatman survived by catering to travelers on old U.S. Route 66. But in the 1960s, when the route became what is now Interstate 40, Oatman almost died.
Oatman is a fun place to visit -- an authentic old western town with burros roaming the streets and gunfights staged on weekends. The burros are tame and can be hand fed. I was surprised to see five old Model T Fords out for a Sunday drive down the main street of Oatman. The cars fit right in with the romantic image of this old town, taking us back to 1915 era old west.
The Oatman Hotel, built in 1902, is the oldest two-story adobe structure in Mojave County and has housed many miners, movie stars, politicians and other scoundrels. The town was used as the location for several movies such as How The West Was Won, Foxfire and Edge of Eternity.
Clark Gable and Carol Lombard honeymooned at the Oatman Hotel March 18, 1939. Their honeymoon suite is still one of the major attractions at the Oatman Hotel. Gable returned there often to play poker with the local miners and enjoy the solitude of the desert.
Oatman's "wild" burros are the descendants of burros brought here by the miners in the late 1800s; when the miners no longer needed them, they were turned loose. Each morning they come into town looking for food. They wander the streets and greet the tourists. Burro pellets and carrots are for sale at many of the shops -- the burros will eat all day if you feed them. Shortly before sunset they wander back to the hills for the night.
Many of the shopkeepers make their own products and obtain other rare and interesting items from far and near. There are many handmade leather goods, handmade Indian jewelry and excellent knives sold right from the wooden sidewalks running the length of the town.
Local gunfights are staged on the weekends
There are two main roads linking Oatman to State Highway 95. One is paved and the other is a dirt road leading to Bullhead City about 25 miles away. The dirt road is in fairly good condition and is certainly a pleasurable egress from Oatman. The scenery along this route is excellent and will really make you feel like you're back in the untamed days of the old west.
You can see the old mine tailing piles and a fascinating variety of desert vegetation and rock formations.
So my daughter says, mom you never go anywhere except the ocean......I happen to love the ocean. I can honestly say, I'm NOT a dessert person, I'm a water, and trees kinda girl :-) But I can say I venture out of my comfort zone and will go back to the ocean next year lol!
